While farming at Crane Valley, Mary's folks gave us two goose eggs; we hatched one little gosling. We also hatched 24 little ducklings of our own. We had them around for awhile. They were three quarters grown and we didn't know that they used to go away on us and be back for the night.
One day our neighbor, one mile away, came over and asked if they were our docks by his place in a ditch where there was water. We walked over to see, sure enough there were our ducks and the goose. We brought them home. We wondered what we should do with them, so we closed them up in the shed.
In the morning we let the ducks out but kept the goose locked up in the shed. All day the ducks kept quacking and parading around the shed, wanting us to let the goose out. The ducks wouldn't leave without their leader "the goose"
